Stafford Gatehouse Theatre redefined the meaning of guerilla marketing with their latest campaign to promote their new comedy season at the re-vamped Met Studio.
A life-size gorilla was seen aping around Staffords Market Square on Friday 3 September as the Gatehouse team handed out hundreds of free bananas to members of the public. Hundreds of branded whoopee cushions were also placed strategically around the town centre.
The campaign was masterminded by Stafford-based design and marketing agency KO Creative. Kerry Ostermeyer, Creative Partner said, "We wanted to give the people of Stafford a taste of what they can expect to see at the MET Studio comedy nights. The gorilla was a popular character with members of the public who proved they are up for a laugh. We shall be editing a video of the highlights which will be available to view on the MET website soon."
The MET Studio re-launches on September 18 with Jon Richardson (star of Michael McIntyres Comedy Roadshow) opening the new venue followed by Mock the Week and Never Mind the Buzzcocks regular Greg Davies on Oct 2.
Derrick Gask, Artistic Programme Manager said, "Comedy lovers in Stafford are in for a treat at the all-new MET Studio. Not only do we have some great acts lined-up but the venue will also be totally transformed into a full-on comedy club."
