The widowed Mrs. Taggart manages and dominates both the construction firm set up by her late husband, and the lives of her three sons, who work for her. All three are present at the annual celebration of her wedding anniversary, and all three have surprises for her. Tom’s is his plan to marry the pregnant Shirley, Terry‘s his intention to emigrate with wife Karen and family, whilst Henry turns out to be a gay transvestite. During the evening, Mrs. Taggart uses every despicable trick she can to thwart their plans and keep her sons close, but her ascendancy is finally broken.
This black comedy will have you cringing as well as laughing in the aisles as Mrs. Taggart takes bad behaviour to another level in her efforts to control her family.
The play was filmed in 1968 and starred Bette Davis and Sheila Hancock. Davis enjoyed making this film and bought a devilish charm to the role of Mrs. Taggart.

Despite his busy schedule with The Dubliners, Seán still finds time to perform in his own right with musicians he has an affinity with. Murphy’s Marbles are one such band where the chemistry between them and Sean makes for an unforgettable evening. The rich mixture of traditional and contemporary songs, spiced with hilarious anecdotes from both the Marbles and the man himself, The Marbles are one of the most accomplished bands in the country. Testament to this is they are one of the few Celtic bands from the UK to be invited to perform in Ireland at the International Irish Music Festival.
After two sell out shows in the MET the Arthur Doherty band are back with a night of Irish music. The band perform a wide range of traditional and contemporary Irish songs interspersed with some jokes and friendly banter. The band features singer Arthur Doherty, Roger Titley on vocals & keyboards, Dave Clark on vocals and guitar and Martin Thompson on fiddle, button accordion, tenor banjo and whistles. There will be a mix of lively chorus songs and nostalgic ballads and plenty of audience participation. Check them out on the web and mail any requests:- http;//www.arthurdohertyband.co.uk
Welcome to Jenny Eclair’s new stand-up show. After thirty years in the business she should vaguely know what she’s doing? Professional Grumpy Old Woman, writer and panto star; Eclair has been round the block that many times she’s lost count.
You may recognise her from Loose Women where she is happy to be one of ‘The Coven’. She is also a Pilates Ninja and a disgrace in her own kitchen.
Touring as a stand-up gives Eclair enormous pleasure. It also gives her dreadful varicose veins, but most importantly it gives her partner (St Geof) a bit of a break.
Help him keep her out of the house, by supporting this show!
Suitable for 16 +. The show contains adult material with adult themes.
